Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect during my initial therapy appointment?

In your initial therapy session, we will begin by getting to know each other. We will complete a thorough assessment, gathering a bit of information and history from you in order to form an individualized plan that will best meet your needs. We will also dive into the issues that you are presenting with and collaborate to create a plan for addressing them in a way that helps you live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We accept both out of network (private pay) as well as a wide variety of in-network insurances. I am also able to provide a superbill for out of network clients to help with reimbursement, when applicable. I look forward to working with you on keeping therapy affordable.

*Psychological Testing services are out of network only. We are not currently accepting insurance for this service.

In-Network Insurances:

Aetna

Anthem

Blue Cross

Carelon Behavioral Health

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel your appointment, please notify us 48 hours prior to your appointment. We recognize that life can be unpredictable and things happen that can prevent you from attending your appointment. Providing adequate notice of your cancellation is important as it can open up an appointment for someone else in need. Please note that if you do not cancel your appointment within this timeframe, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.

Does my information remain confidential?

Privacy and maintaining confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of therapy. Typically, what you say in session stays in the session. However, there are some limits to confidentiality that you should be aware of. If you state that you are going to harm yourself or someone else, we are obligated to break confidentiality for safety reasons. Additionally, if you report any active child or elder abuse, we are mandated to make a child or elder abuse report. There are also certain legal situations (being court ordered by a judge to release records or testify in court, for example) that meet exclusionary criteria in upholding confidentiality.

What will I achieve in therapy?

There are many benefits you can get from therapy, but at the end of the day, what you want to achieve is up to you. You and your therapist will work together to set specific goals that you would like to achieve. Change is gradual and doesn't happen overnight so be patient throughout the process. We want you to feel empowered and confident in your ability to effectively manage and cope with your emotions to gain the sense of peace and quality of life you are looking for. Most of my patients notice a steady decrease in symptoms within the first two months and sustained improvement thereafter.
